Receive replies to your SMS and forward them by email, HTTP callback or SMSIn order to receive replies, it is essential that you set a phone number as the sender of the SMS. SMS with an alphanumeric sender (e.g. CompanyABC) cannot be replied to.
There are basically three different ways to receive replies:
- Use your own phone number (landline or mobile) as sender identification. You will then receive the replies directly on your own device.
- Use one of our shared gateway numbers as the sender ID. The SMS will then be sent to you by email and saved in your login. We recommend that you register a keyword in this case.
- Book your own phone number with us, which you can specify as the sender ID.
Note for 2.: Matching replies to your account
If a recipient replies to your SMS, the reply is sent to the account that last sent an SMS to the recipient. Therefore, if two accounts send SMS to the same number, the reply will be sent to number that contacted this recipient last.
Please note that a 100% reliable matching of the answers is not possible if two customers send an SMS to the same number and the recipient answers.
If you want 100% reliability in the matching, you can order your own phone number with us.
Forwarding Inbound SMS
Optionally, you can have incoming replies forwarded directly to your server using a webhook, via email or via SMS. Combinations of these options are also possible.
Forwarding via Email or SMS
You can find the setting for forwarding via Mail and SMS in your login in the inbound settings.
You can also have replies forwarded to multiple email addresses or mobile numbers at the same time. To do this, enter the addresses or numbers separated by commas, for example: firstname.lastname@example.org,email@example.com,firstname.lastname@example.org
When forwarding via SMS, you can also enter contact names and group names in addition to mobile phone numbers.
Please note: For forwarding via SMS we charge our normal price for sent SMS.
Forwarding via HTTP callback (Webhook)
Find the settings for forwarding via HTTP callback (webhook) under the menu item Developer.
For forwarding inbound SMS via webhook you can choose between GET, POST (urlencoded) and JSON. If you only want to forward replies to specific numbers or keywords, you can set this in the filters after selecting the forwarding of incoming SMS (SMS_MO) as the event.
