In order to receive replies, it is essential that you set a phone number as the sender of the SMS. SMS with an alphanumeric sender (e.g. companyABC) cannot be answered.

There are basically three different ways to receive replies:

  1. Use your own phone number ( landline or mobile ) as sender identification. You will then receive the replies directly to your end device.
  2. 2. Use one of our shared gateway numbers as the sender ID. The SMS will then be sent to you by email and saved in your login.
  3. Book your own phone number with us, which you can specify as the sender ID.

Matching of responses to SMS

Incoming SMS messages are assigned as replies to the account that last sent an SMS to the number from which the reply came. 

Please note that a 100% reliable matching of the answers is therefore not possible if two customers send an SMS to the same number and an answer comes from this number.

Forwarding by Mail and HTTP Callback

Optionally, you can have incoming replies to your SMS forwarded directly to your server or via email via a webhook. You will find the setting for this in your login in the inbound settings.
